A very rare Louis Vuitton “malle haute” or “high trunk“. Dating to the early part of the 20th century, covered not in the world famous (but more common) monogram canvas but in a single piece of cow hide. These all-leather trunks were made by special order and Louis Vuitton used to take pride in using only the best hides.

A lovely example of an early 20th century Goyard hat trunk covered in the very unusual “checkerboard” canvas rather than the more common chevron canvas. This unusually sized trunk is in very good condition and harks back to times of passenger ships and 1st class travel of bygone eras. A wonderful conversation piece that would make a welcome addition to any home, both modern or traditional.
