19th Century Austrian four-colour 18k gold snuff box, of rectangular form with rounded corners, the hinged covers beautifully engraved with shell and scroll decoration, engine turning in reserves and applied with an elaborate thumb piece, the lid applied with the initials LC in four colours of gold.
Hallmarked with Austrian, Vienna town mark, Maker's mark of Felix Paul.

Antique early-20th Century French Cartier Art Deco 18k gold vanity case, of rectangular form with rounded corners, the lid set with a carved fruit shaped turquoise stone in gold setting, the whole box is applied with black lacquer and art deco gold inlay.
Hallmarked French gold (eagle's head, 750 standard), Makers mark for Auguste Peyroula and signed Cartier, Made in France, the box dates to 1920's and is a stunning example of the early Art Deco pieces made by Cartier and presented to the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs at Industriels Modernes (Paris, 1925), that marked the high point of the first phase of Art Deco. Such pieces are very valuable and sought after.
