19th Century French bronze of a whippet with head turned back crouched over a slain hare, on a naturalistic base, inscribed to terrace 'GECHTHER 1843' and 'Cresson éditeur'. JEAN-FRANCOIS-THEODORE GECHTER (1796-1844): LA LEVRETTE AU LIEVRE, 1843, probably cast posthumously by Cresson, Paris, mid 19th century.
