Antique 19th Century English hand painted armorial shield for Essex. The coat of arms, probably from Southend shows the motto "Forti Nihil Difficile", in Latin translating to "For The Brave Nothing Is Difficult". A remarkable piece of history, it serves as a striking decorative accent and a captivating conversation piece.

Vintage 20th Century set of three petrol measuring canisters, used by the London Borough of Hillingdon Council to check the accuracy of fuel pumps. Made from polished brass and copper, the set comprises Two Gallons, One Gallon, and Half a Gallon measures. Manufactured by Wragg Bros Ltd of Wickford, Essex, these pieces reflect their practical municipal use while offering strong industrial character.
Check pumps were originally used to measure and dispense fuel accurately before modern electric petrol pumps became standard, making them an important part of early filling stations and garages. The accompanying canisters were used for storing and transporting fuel or lubricants safely, offering a practical and durable solution for motorists and mechanics of the time.
