Vintage 20th Century English solid silver novelty shape sander, crafted in the form of a globe, featuring a weighted base for stability on the office table. Hand-made with raised and applied continents set against recessed oceans, it also has engraved latitude and longitude lines.
The sander opens by unscrewing at the centre. An ink sander is used to lighten or remove excess ink from paper, helping to refine lettering, adjust shading, or correct small mistakes in handwriting and artwork. It provides control over ink density without damaging the surface.
Marked at the base with “Sterling” and a patent number. Hallmarked English Silver (925 Standard). No makers mark or date.
