Antique 19th Century Imperial Russian solid trompe l'oeil cigar box. The outside of the box features a decorative engraving with the words "Paper", "Cigarettes" and "25 pieces" in Cyrillic language. Upon opening the cigarette box, a gilt interior is presented with a presentation engraving, the writing is in old-style Russian style. It says: 'Отъ обая́тельницы' In modern spelling: От обая́тельницы. Meaning in English: From the charming lady or From the enchantress. It’s a sort of playful, elegant dedication.
Hallmarked Russian solid silver (875 standard), Moscow, year 1887, Assayer Viktor Savinkov (B.C), Maker's mark MH (Matvey Nikiforov).
