Antique 20th Century English solid silver cigar holder. Of a cylindrical form, the surface finished in a hand hammered texture. A curved carrying handle is attached to the side.
A folding support leg allows the holder to stand securely at an angle when in use, and to fold away flush when not required. Both practical and decorative, this well-considered design reflects the taste for novelty silver items in the early 20th century.
Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), Sheffield, year 1909 (r), Maker's mark GW (George Wish).
