Antique 19th Century massive and exceptional Austro-Hungarian Empire Solid Silver gem-set figural chamberstick, richly gilt, of shaped circular form, profusely chased with scrolls and set with beautiful semi-precious stones, four arches set with figures in 17th Century clothes playing and singing, the architectural sconce is also embellished with arches and applied with cherubs, the stem modelled as a scrolling leaf with a naked cherub, scrolling leaf-capped handle set with Pan playing flute.
This is the most exceptional silver chamberstick we have ever seen, made in a Renaissance / Baroque style, extremely fine and detailed, breath-taking quality.
As often the case for Austrian silver the chamberstick is not Hallmarked, but acid tested shows 900+ standard. The piece is typically Austro-Hungarian and dates to year 1880-1900.
