DESCRIPTION
Antique 20th Century Edwardian solid silver very large and impressive Epergne Centerpiece, made in the Georgian style. This magnificent piece stands on four openwork scroll feet supporting a floral apron frame, the pierced body holding four scroll branches each suspending a swinging basket.
Decorative epergne such as this were used to hold fruits, candied fruits and sweetmeats and are the decorative focal point of the dining-table, this piece is large and exceptionally decorative. Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), Birmingham, year 1911 (m), Maker E&Co (Elkington & Co)
