DESCRIPTION
Antique 20th Century extremely large and heavy Solid Silver centrepiece bowl, pierced wavy shell-shaped body, applied with a cast scrolled figural handle and resting on three cast dolphin feet, a fine and exceptional replica of the famous centrepiece by the greatest silversmith of all time Paul de Lamerie (for a very similar example please see the Collection of Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, accession number 68.141.188, dating to 1744 (please follow this link).
Hallmarked English Silver (925 Standard), London, year 1920 (e), Maker's mark SG (Garrard & Co, very important firm, Royal Silversmith and Crown Jeweller of the UK since 1843).
