ANTIQUE 20thC ENGLISH SOLID SILVER PAIR OF NAUTICAL PROPELLER KNIFE RESTS c.1901
Antique 20th Century English solid silver novelty themed nautical knife rests, beautifully modelled in the form of marine propellers. Nautical themed silverware has long been popular amongst yacht owners, naval officers and collectors of maritime objects, and these examples capture that spirit perfectly.
Each knife rest is formed from two realistically cast three-bladed propellers joined by a cylindrical shaft, creating a practical yet highly decorative table accessory. The polished silver surface highlights the flowing contours of the blades, while the symmetrical design ensures stability when in use.
Hallmarked English Silver (925 Standard), Birmingham, year 1901 (b), Maker's mark B&S (Barnett & Scott).
