ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A shooting stick is a walking stick fitted with a folding seat, originally designed for use in field sports such as shooting and stalking. It allowed the user to walk long distances with support and then sit down when required without carrying separate seating. The stick provides stability on uneven ground, while the hinged seat unfolds to form a small perch. Beyond sporting use, shooting sticks have been used for fishing, countryside walking, and outdoor events, and examples made by luxury makers in fine woods, leather, or exotic skins were also intended as status objects as well as practical accessories.
