20thC ITALIAN HAND BLOWN MILLEFIORI & AVENTURINE GLASS VASE, MADE IN MURANO
A 20th Century striking Murano art glass vase of bold and sculptural form, dating to the late 20th century. The piece is executed in vibrant red glass with a contrasting yellow interior, creating a vivid colour interplay that is further enhanced by flowing multicoloured inclusions and trailing decoration. Around the body runs a richly textured band of millefiori canes, intricate mosaic slices of coloured glass, interspersed with applied elements and set against a ground of swirling tones.
Below, elongated trailing forms in black and amber cascade downward, giving the impression of movement and depth. The base reveals further complexity in the glasswork, with layered colours and internal patterning, and the piece is signed, confirming its studio origin. The asymmetrical, slightly organic rim adds to the contemporary sculptural quality, while the combination of traditional Murano techniques (millefiori, trailing, and layered glass) demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship.
Murano glassmakers are renowned for centuries-old techniques, and pieces such as this reflect the continued innovation of Venetian studios in the modern era, blending historic methods with expressive, contemporary design.
