ANTIQUE 20thC EDWARDIAN SET OF FOUR CHERRY PICKERS' BASKETS c.1910

£795.00

Antique 20th Century Edwardian set of four cherry pickers' baskets. Hand woven in willow, each basket has a substantial form with a deep cylindrical body and heavy rolled rim, designed to withstand the demands of repeated orchard use. Faded painted lettering and traces of the original orchard markings remain across the sides. Originally used for harvesting cherries and other fruit in an English orchard, the baskets display the knocks, rubbing and mellow patination expected from more than a century of practical use. Now they remain as useful today as they were a hundred years ago; ideal for logs, blankets, magazines or general storage.
