ANTIQUE 20thC SET OF THREE PLASTER PORTRAIT RELIEFS, FAMILY OF RICCARDO SECCHI
An interesting collection of three Italian plaster portrait reliefs, acquired from the family home of direct descendants of the sculptor Riccardo Secchi (1871–1938), dating from the early 20th century. The collection comprises two circular reliefs and one oval relief, each depicting a different sitter. The largest circular relief portrays a young woman with softly modelled features and swept-up hair, shown in three-quarter view and wearing a delicate necklace and draped garment. This example bears the signature of Riccardo Secchi, providing a direct connection to the artist. The second circular relief depicts a distinguished gentleman in profile, with a prominent moustache and formal jacket. The oval relief portrays a bearded gentleman wearing a broad-brimmed hat, believed to represent Prampolini, although the sitter's identity remains unconfirmed. The authorship of the oval portrait is also uncertain, and it is therefore offered as part of the collection associated with Secchi rather than definitively attributed to him.
