DESCRIPTION
Crafted in the mid-19th century, this antique Italian marble sculpture portrays a graceful African lady draped in robes. Crowned with an elephant head, she delicately holds up a small bird in one hand, while the other hand rests beside her leg, clutching a cornucopia of flowers. Beside her, a diminutive lion sits with outstretched front paws, a possible depiction of the African continent.
