Antique 19th Century Japanese Meiji period pair of inlaid bronze ovoid vases by Miyabe Atsuyoshi, Kyoto. Each vase is decorated in high relief with gold, silver, shibuichi, shakudō, and copper inlays forming a complementary continuous autumnal scene.

Both depict kingfishers in flight above egrets wading among reeds and flowering kōhone (Nuphar japonicum). Each vase is signed on the base with the chiselled inscription Dai Nippon Kyoto ju Ikkodo Miyabe Atsuyoshi with a kao.
