ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Marius Hammer (1847–1927) was one of Norway’s most important silversmiths of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Based in Bergen, his workshop became renowned for its finely crafted silver objects, particularly those decorated with intricate guilloché enamel. Hammer combined traditional Norwegian silversmithing techniques with the contemporary Art Nouveau style, creating elegant pieces characterised by delicate floral motifs, translucent enamel surfaces and exceptional technical precision. His work was widely admired during his lifetime and remains highly sought after for its craftsmanship and distinctive Scandinavian aesthetic.
