Norwegian gilt silver and guilloché enamel table clock by David Andersen. This piece showcases a small circular clock face set within a blue enamel, engine-turned triangular case adorned with delicate floral leaf details. It was given by Robert Ronper to his wife, Mary Anne Craik, to mark the christening of the ship Bismarck. 

Marked on the underneath Norwegian Silver (830 standard).

Robert Ropner was a prominent British-German shipbuilder and shipping magnate with a significant legacy in British maritime history. Born in Germany in 1838, Ropner migrated to Britain, where he eventually founded his own shipping line, Ropner Shipping Company, in the late 19th century. Known for constructing robust cargo vessels, his contributions bolstered the UK's merchant fleet, and he was knighted for his service to British maritime interests.
