A striking Hermès silk carré titled Ali Baba, designed by Annie Faivre, one of the most imaginative and narrative-driven designers for Hermès. First issued in 1989, this design draws inspiration from Middle Eastern tales and miniature painting traditions, reflecting Faivre’s signature storytelling style.

The composition is densely populated with richly dressed riders on horseback, arranged in a dynamic, almost tapestry-like scene. Figures in turbans and flowing garments are interwoven across the field, creating a sense of movement and depth. The design is framed by geometric borders, including a central diamond reserve that adds structure to the otherwise intricate pattern.

This example is rendered in a warm and harmonious palette of camel, tan, and cream tones, accented by deep green throughout the border and garments.
