19th Century French silver-gilt and clear glass lemonade jug, of baluster form, beautifully swirled glass, the applied silver foot, neck and scroll handle are chased with leaves and scrolls, the hinged lid is surmounted by a cast acanthus leave finial, inside containing a lidded ice tube to keep the lemonade chilled.

Hallmarked French Silver (Minerva's head, 950 Standard silver purity), Maker's mark for Leon Lapar, (active 1878-1897, 16 Rue de Choiseul Paris).
