ANTIQUE 19thC FRENCH GILT SOLID SILVER PHOTOGRAPH FRAME ON AGATE BASE c.1890

Antique 19th century French gilt solid silver photograph frame set on a polished agate base. The frame is of oval form with finely pierced decoration running around the edge, giving it a light, decorative quality. Two small lapis lazuli cabochons are set to the top and base, adding a subtle contrast of colour. The interior retains its original liner and oval glass. It is raised on a carefully cut and polished light-coloured agate plinth. A refined desk piece, it is signed to the reverse “Marquet, Paris, Nice”.
