ANTIQUE 20thC FRENCH SILVER PLATE & BRASS SMOKING BOX, CHRISTOFLE OF OMAN

Antique 20th Century French silver plated, brass, and rosewood gentleman’s smoking box. The exterior is richly decorated with silver plated and brass panels. The front features a pin-lock mechanism, allowing the hinged lid to be lifted and opened. Inside is a spacious compartment for cigars or cigarettes.

Three front drawers open to reveal small compartments with (later-added, out of sight) magnets at the rear of each drawer, keeping them closed and flush. All sides are extensively decorated, with two small handles on either side for easy transport. The box is beautifully presented in its original case.

What makes this box rather special is it was retailed and sold in Oman under the Christofle brand. The rear of the box is marked "Christofle, France" along with maker's mark.
