VINTAGE 20thC PORTHOLE ASHTRAY BY PAUL DUPRÉ LAFON FOR HERMÈS, PARIS

Vintage 20th Century porthole form ashtray by Hermès, designed by the French designer Paul Dupré Lafon in Paris. The circular base is wrapped in navy leather with contrasting saddle stitching and fitted with polished chrome hardware. At the center is an articulated porthole style lid, complete with a hinged glass panel and wing nut fastening. The porthole opens to reveal a removable glass ashtray insert. It is an exceptional piece of French modernist design, functional as a desk or smoking accessory.
