20thC ENGLISH WOOD & PLASTER FRAMED CONVEX MIRROR
A mid 20th century convex mirror in wood and plaster. Convex mirrors played an important role in the running of the Regency household. Often placed in the dining room, the convex mirror allowed the butler to oversee the progress of supper, whilst keeping a discrete distance from the guests. Hence, the convex mirror came to be known as the butler’s mirror.
This example dates to middle part of the 20th century and makes a wonderful addition to any interior, whether traditional, mid century or modern. Fantastic as part of a collection or as a stand alone item.
