ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Troeds was founded in Sweden in 1934 by Svea and Hugo Troedsson . Their mid-century furniture was very popular in Great Britain in the 1960s particularly their teak dining room furniture. Troeds at the time used the talented Swedish designer Nils Jonsson whose name is often stamped on their pieces along with the model name and Troeds.
In London you could only buy their furniture at Harrods or Liberty and Co. In other parts of the country their furniture was only available at small up-market retailers (Rackhams and Lee Longlands in Birmingham or Chapmans in Newcastle).
Although most of their pieces were realised in teak, other veneers such as rosewood, walnut and oak were used. Rosewood, when available, was the most expensive and added 30% to 40% to the price which at the time made a vast difference and hence rarely seen today.
