DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century rare and exceptional German Hanau Solid Silver impressively large lidded tankard, in the style of the early 16th Century example, beautifully chased and embossed with a very detailed and crowded battle scene, surrounded by a scrolling foliage in relief, large handle terminating with a ball finial, hinged domed cover in the same style applied with a scrolling thumb-piece and large fruit finial.
The base is marked with German Hanau pseudo-marks (the piece has been acid tested 800+ grade of silver), Maker's marks unidentified, it dates to year 1880's. This is an extraordinary presentation piece, stunning quality and impressive size.

In Great Condition - no damage, just general wear.
