DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century rare Indian Colonial Solid Silver two-handled trophy cup and cover, of campana form applied with fruiting vine, leaves and flowers, cast scroll handles, domed cover surmounted by a stunning floral finial.
The body with two cartouches, one engraved with initials, the other bearing a memorial inscription: "Nynee Tal Rifle Club, 1861, 1st Price Won by T.P. Gudgin". T. P. Gudgin was Veterinary Surgeon of the 2nd Dragoon Guards.
The piece has been acid tested 900+ standard, the base stamped "ALLAN & HAYES", silversmith operating in Calcutta between 1855 and 1864. This trophy dates to about 1860-61.
CONDITION
In Great Condition - No damage, just general wear.
