ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Vishnu Kishore was a skilled Indian silversmith active in the late 19th century, known for producing high-quality silverware, particularly tea sets, trays, ewer juge and decorative tableware. Based in Calcutta (now Kolkata), his work reflected a fusion of British colonial tastes and traditional Indian craftsmanship. His pieces were often adorned with intricate repoussé designs, featuring scrolling foliage, animals, and figural motifs inspired by Indian mythology and Mughal artistry. His silverware was well-regarded among British officials and wealthy patrons in colonial India, many of whom commissioned elaborate sets for their homes. He marked his pieces with "VK," a hallmark that distinguished his work from other Indian silversmiths of the time. While fewer records exist about his life, his craftsmanship remains appreciated among collectors.
