ANTIQUE 20thC INDIAN SOLID SILVER CHAMBERSTICK, KASHMIR c.1900

£995.00
Sold

Antique 20th Century Indian (Kashmir) solid silver chamberstick. Featuring a deep faceted drip pan, with its pouring lip and central candle socket, hand chased and pierced with dense scrolling foliage and floral motifs, while the elegant loop handle is formed as a serpent, its head emerging from the rim in a striking naturalistic detail. The twisted stem, resembling intertwined serpents, rises from an elaborate pierced conical foliate base surrounded by finely detailed sunflower like blooms, reflecting Kashmir's fascination with botanical ornament. Not hallmarked as often the case for Kashmiri silver (but acid tested shows a 900+ standard silver purity).
