Antique early-20th Century Japanese Meiji-period monumental solid silver humidor box, It's surface is adorned with intricate high-relief water dragons, complete with applied flowing whiskers, set against a hand-hammered background. Hand crafted in double-skinned silver and a cedar wood-lined interior.

The box features a removable top tray for smaller cigars and accessories, revealing two spacious compartments beneath for larger cigars. The lid is equipped with a folding handle. The base is Hallmarked Japanese silver, 'Jun-gin' mark, meaning 'pure silver' (950+ high grade silver, the finest silver the world has ever known), used primary in during the Meiji period (1868-1912).

The workmanship is similar to boxes retailed by Arthur & Bond, one of the most important Japanese firms active in Yokohama.
