Antique early 20th Century Japanese Meii period solid silver cigar box of rectangular form, double walled and finely decorated in high relief with iris flowers emerging from water, set against a hand-hammered ground. The hinged lid opens to reveal an inscription in French, which translates: “To Mr A. Kammerer, Homage from the French municipality of Hankeou (Wuhan city), 1904.” The interior is lined with dark hardwood.

The box is unmarked (tested high grade 950+ silver standard).
