Pushkin’s at London’s Treasure House Fair: A Curated World

Pushkin's recently visited the Treasure House Fair at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and what makes it stand out is how much it broadens the idea of an art fair. Rather than focusing on one corner of the market, it brings together art, antiques and design in a way that feels varied, clear and well judged. Around 70 international dealers take part, with each object independently vetted, so the fair has the polish of a major event without feeling overblown.

The obvious draw is the range of material on show. Alongside antique Patek Philippe watches, Riva yachts, natural geological specimens and high jewellery, the fair also spans ancient art, Asian art, rare books, vintage photography, sculpture, silver, ceramics and textiles. That breadth is what gives the fair its energy. You can move from a piece of fine jewellery to a natural history specimen, then on to Impressionist painting, British post-war art or mid-century Scandinavian and Italian design, without the experience feeling disconnected.

Taste is rarely limited to one lane. A collector interested in watches may also care about furniture, books, silver or contemporary art; someone drawn to a meteorite or scientific object may be just as interested in design or jewellery. The fair leans into that overlap rather than resisting it.

Held on the South Grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea during London's summer season, the fair has a strong sense of place without relying too heavily on ceremony. Visitors can also expect a broader day out than simply walking the stands, with on-site hospitality and a fair structure that encourages people to spend time looking properly rather than rushing through.
