ANTIQUE 19thC THAI SOLID SILVER-GILT NIELLO ENAMEL BOWL, SIAM c.1800

19thC silver niello bowl, stylized leaf shaped rim and domed spreading foot, repousse decorated with dense floral gilded ground. Nielloware art and jewellery has always been very popular in Thailand, However, the niello technique does not seem to have originated in Thailand. This bowl is an exceptional example of Thai niello work, such pieces were only made for the Royal house. The tradition of presenting nielloware objects as State gifts goes back to the reign of King Narai of Ayutthaya (1656-1688). Pieces of similar quality can only be viewed at the Nakhon National Museum and the V&A.

Antique late-19th Century Victorian solid silver "Armada" pattern ewers, each exceptionally large and decorative, with scroll handle, the hinged lid has an ornate finial and opens by squeezing the handle trigger, baluster body, domed circular foot, the body is profusely decorated in relief with embossed flowers, foliage and scrolls on a matted ground, the body also features two cartouches, one side engraved with a family crest.

19th Century German solid silver & enameled glass pair of large and decorative wine claret jugs, each baluster form glass body beautifully enameled with multi-colour foliate scroll decoration, mounted with a silver collar chased with scrolls and cross-hatch woven decoration, vacant cartooches, scroll handle terminating with a shell thumbpiece.

20th Century French silver five-piece novelty trompe-i'oeil cruet set, comprising of three graduated jars, realistically shaped as wooden barrels and two smaller bowls with handles realistically modelled as buckets. One of the buckets hallmarked with Minerva  and maker's mark "G.B" probably for Georges Brisson, all other pieces with "boar head" - French silver standard for small objects.

Antique 19th Century Victorian rare and exceptional solid silver salver with cast Bacchanalia border, impressively large size and extremely heavy gauge, of shaped-circular form on three impressive cast feet, with applied cast border depicting grapevine, flowers and applied with six realistically modelled Bacchus heads, the centre chased with scrolls, flowers and large crowned sither initials.
