Antique mid-19th Century Victorian very rare cast iron scale model of the original meter used to measure the amount of gas used at the Crystal Palace, in Hyde Park during the Great Exhibition of 1851. In the Victorian era of innovation and invention this was a state of the art engineering. Gas was predominantly used for heating , lighting and cooking in the huge glass place built in Hyde Park for this extraordinary exhibition.
