Vintage 20th Century Italian stone box crafted from black and Blue Ice granite (Blu Ghiaccio). The contrasting tones of deep charcoal and icy blue create a crisp, speckled surface, characteristic of this striking ornamental granite.
Blue Ice granite is a hard igneous stone composed primarily of quartz and feldspar, giving it both durability and a naturally crystalline texture. Its blue-grey flecking, often set against a darker ground, produces a cool, architectural appearance that became popular in the mid-20th century for decorative objects and interior features. When cut and highly polished, the stone reveals depth and subtle variation, with each piece displaying a unique mineral pattern.
