Antique late 19th Century Indian (Cutch) hand crafted solid silver large ewer, extremely heavy gauge, decorated all over with typically Cutch chasing work depicting a hunting lion chasing wild antelope amongst scrolling leaves. Cutch silver is distinguished by its closely worked, foliate, repoussé design. The body features a tightly scrolled foliate and floral work and against a finely tooled background, a vacant shield to one side. The silver has been acid tested and shows a 900 standard, the base is marked with the maker's mark "VK". (Vishnu Kishore).
