DESCRIPTION
Antique early-20th Century Russian Pan-Slavic style solid silver & cut-glass kovsh, with a large curling mounted handle.The oval bowl with shaped rim, cut with diamond facets, the handle mounted with a finely cast bogatyr preparing to fight a bear that is climbing the prow. Hallmarked Russian 84 silver (875 standard), Moscow, year 1908-1917, Maker's mark 4A (Artels were cooperative associations of craftsmen that existed in Imperial Russia and Soviet Union. These associations consisted of a small number of members specialised in a specific art and producing a limited number of unique high quality objects.)
