Antique early 20th Century Russian solid silver and guilloché enamel cigarette case, rectangular in form with curved edges. The box is finely crafted, applied with green translucent enamel over an engine-turned ground, framed by a white enamel border. The thumb piece is set with old-cut diamonds. Inside, the box is richly gilt and bears an inscription, translated as “For good memory, 1916.”
Hallmarked Russian silver 88 (916 standard), St-Petersburg, year 1908-1917, Maker's mark in Cyrillic; Britzin (Founded in 1860, the workshop of Ivan Britzin was considered to be one of Fabergé's greatest competitors in the production of enameled wares).
