DESCRIPION
A very unusual pair of hall chairs or side chairs made by Danilo Schirato, northern Italy. Antlers were already used in the late 15th century as a source material for clothes hooks, storage racks and chandeliers, the so-called "lusterweibchen". Furniture made by antlers started being made in the 19th century and can therefore be assigned to the Biedermeier period. They were exclusively made for the European nobility to decorate their hunting castles and various manors. Antique furniture of this kind is very rare and much sought after, with somewhat of a revival over the past decade or so with many magazines showing interiors decorated with such items. Schirato draws influence from this period, using the same techniques and has fashioned a these extremely unusual hall chairs fashioned almost entirely from antler horn and the seating has been upholstered in a bovine hide.
The Schirato Interiors brand offers luxury furnishing items and accessories for furnishing living spaces in the mountains (chalets, mountain refuges, etc.) in an exclusive and unique way. Created by the company Alps Atmosphere Creation Sarl, established in 2009 thanks to the longstanding experience of Danilo Schirato who has been working as an artisan interior designer since 1976, the brand has existed since 2013 with its products available at its store in the centre of Gstaad, Switzerland.
The development of this excellent Italian company began with the creation of the first original furnishing item, the throne chair with antlers, which has become an icon in the sector. The throne chair was followed by other creations by Schirato Interiors: over the years, production has expanded while maintaining its artistic vocation and a rustic yet modern design, uniqueness, refinement and the use of classic high-quality materials such as leather, fabrics and upholstery to ensure quality that is acknowledged worldwide. These chairs are currently out of production and this is a wonderful opportunity to buy a pair of Schirato chairs for a fraction of the price they would have retailed for.
