DESCRIPTION
Flight into Egypt, circle of Carlo Maratta (Italy 1625-1713). Inspired by Antonio da Correggio (1489-1534) - Madonna della scodella (1528-30). Mary is depicted sitting on stony ground, with the child (Jesus) on her lap, reaching out to Joseph's hand. Joseph handing over a date fruit from the leaves and branches of a date palm in the background, while four playful winged angels in clouds, brightly lit, float between the palm leaves on a cloud bank. The painting presented gilt frame. This painting has been searched on the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered as stolen or missing.
CONDITION
In Great Condition - no signs of restoration.
