An Evening of Generosity: £5,500 Raised for the Orthodox Church

At Pushkin’s Gallery, we believe that art has the power not only to inspire and bring people together, but also to make a meaningful difference. Our recent charity auction was a wonderful example of this spirit, and we are delighted to announce that, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our guests, donors and bidders, we raised £5,500 in much needed funds for the Orthodox Church in Hastings. This contribution brings the church another step closer to completion, a cause that holds special significance for the local Orthodox community and for all those who value the preservation of faith, culture and heritage.

We were particularly honoured to welcome Sarah Fabergé and Prince Rostislav Romanov, whose presence made the occasion all the more memorable.

Prince Rostislav Romanov, an accomplished artist and a member of the Russian Imperial Family, generously donated a remarkable collection of three limited edition prints to the charity auction. Inspired by his visit to Ekaterinburg, the site of the tragic murder of the Russian Imperial Family in 1918, these deeply personal works reflect an important chapter in Romanov history. Prince Rostislav, who has exhibited his artwork in New York, London, Paris and internationally, brought a particularly meaningful connection between art, history and remembrance to the auction.

Another highlight of the evening was a beautiful Imperial gold and turquoise egg, generously donated by Alexander Pushkin in support of the charity auction.

We were privileged to have Sarah Fabergé personally introduce and speak about this exceptional piece, sharing her insights and adding a special sense of occasion to its presentation. Her presence, together with the egg’s connection to the rich traditions of Russian decorative art, made this one of the evening’s most memorable moments.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this evening possible.

To our generous donors, who contributed such special and meaningful auction lots; to our enthusiastic bidders, whose kindness and support helped us achieve this wonderful result; and to every guest who joined us in the spirit of giving. At Pushkin’s Gallery, we are proud to support initiatives that celebrate our cultural and spiritual heritage, and we feel immensely grateful to everyone who continues to support our work and the causes close to our hearts.

From all of us at Pushkin’s Gallery, thank you for your generosity, your friendship and your continued support. Together, we have helped turn generosity into something truly lasting.
